I'm pretty sure today is going to be a day where we just sit inside and read and write and play music and watch movies. I have a wedding to go to this afternoon, but other than that (and running my husband to his office--there is nowhere to park up there), I'm not going outside! I have some interesting books out right now--one is a book about color, as in where we get all the different pigments of paint, and what history they have. I've only made it through ochre so far, but it was pretty fascinating (and corroborates my sense of Australia after playing Geoguessr--it is one big piece of red and yellow ochre). I also have a book on elements (called, appropriately, Elements) that is fascinating and funny and which I had to swipe from my boys because even the 5YO was wanting it as a bedtime book. I have a WIP where I have over 35K on and would like to finish, but first I've realized I have sort of neglected the bad guys' plotline, so I need to go back and develop that and stick it in. And I'm in the dreaming/freewriting stage of another book that might have some promise. But it's still very early for that one....and might need to percolate a bit. Plus I have um, a talk to write for tomorrow (I never get asked to talk on something I've been thinking about, always something else, which means starting from scratch). So there's plenty to do inside, which is good. Because when I hear people talk about how all the parks in town set up free skating rinks (outside, of course), I am trying and failing to see how it's possible to take your 5YO out in subzero temperatures with a windchill of who knows what to play in the ice. You can wear a heavy coat and snowpants, but you need your eyes exposed... We have ice on our windows, which is reasonable given the temperatures--but I've never seen hoarfrost develop on the window screens before. It's pretty--and pretty cold!
Um...it's sunny and really pretty outside?
