Messiah sing-along

me sketch
Cool. My town does a Messiah sing-along every year in the largest old church in town. (It looks like something straight out of Germany.) I heard about it by accident and so we went tonight. We left the non-musical kid home because he didn't want to go, and also the 5YO because we didn't know how long it was. It turned out that both of them probably would have liked it, so if we're here next year, we'll bring everyone. Of course we slaughtered the singing--it's been 16 years since I went to a thing like this (JUST before my oldest was born). But even though the church was gorgeous and the musicians were excellent, there was also a low-key, fun feel to it all, so it was okay.

It sure is cold, though. Brr.

It's been a long time since I've sung the Messiah too...It would be interesting to see how much I remember (I've sung it sooooo many times -- just like you, I'm sure -- both soprano and alto). What a nice tradition :)

It's something they really should have done in our town in Idaho! They had the perfect venue and the perfect community for it. But while I've watched concerts, I haven't found a sing along since college. I have um, forgotten a lot!

My kids were blown away. My 8YO had never heard anyone live sing like the soloists. Her eyes were about to fall out of her head, lol. And even though she can't read music, she did her best to follow everyone around her. Definitely something I want to go back to!
